Throw & Blow, a fun first boardgame for the 3 – 5 year olds that is versatile (can be played by 1-4 people) and is unique in that it is a speech game – you blow your way through the game! Players must blow their tokens around the board, picking up matching action cards and following the fun instructions such as:  “Lick your lips as if they are covered in sticky chocolate,” or “Meow like a cat.”   Throw & Blow is great fun for everyone.

Drop the Spot is a unique mouth co-ordination game that is fun and challenging.  Players must suck discs onto the end of a special whistling straw and then drop them onto the correct spot on their playing boards in order to match the pattern on the task card they are copying (shape, colour, number or letters).  Drop the Spot is fun and challenging for both old and young. It can be played by one or two players.

Skills covered in both games:

  • Mouth co-ordination for speech
  • Visual processing skills ( figure ground perception, discrimination, matching, one-to-one correspondence, copying, spatial planning, counting, visual memory)
  • Fine motor skills ( eye-mouth co-ordination, eye-hand co-ordination, motor planning)
  • Problem solving
  • Task completion
  • Concentration
  • Motivation
  • Competition

The games work important muscles in the mouth, lips, cheeks and tongue through the actions of sucking, holding breath, breathing, swallowing, lip pursing and general mouth co-ordination. By doing this over and over, children are laying the foundations for good speech development.
